Pro Skater 3 is the most refined Pro Skater in our opinion and features the best that any of the Tony Hawk games have to offer. ESQUIRE Skater XL is the realistic skateboarding game Ive been. Even if you do get bored there’s also the map maker so you can spend hours making the perfect park just for you. Skater XL Is an authentic, community-driven video game thatll earn the respect of skaters. There’s also a lot to do I’m this game with loads of objectives in the 12 different maps (9 main maps and 3 secret maps) so you’ll have hours of play time. The characters, missions, and locations are all ridiculous and made solely for enjoyment. It’s not a super serious game, not by a long shot, but it is seriously fun and that’s all they wanted.
The game was released in 2001 and uses buttons to do tricks rather than the new thumbstick methods but this makes the game much more arcadey which is what they wanted it to be. Pro Skater 3 does everything right with one of the best soundtracks to ever grace the earth to feature pros which are so iconic it hurts. THPS3 is without a doubt the best Tony Hawk game to date.

Session doesn’t quite capture the number 1 or 2 spots in our opinion as it doesn’t quite have the support that the others do below in terms of community engagement and that means less mod available to make the game more interesting for longer. They have now added some easier options and a legacy control option which makes it control like Skate 3 but at the core of it is a hard-core skate sim that’s supposed to put you through your paces and be quite difficult to learn at first but rewarding when you finally get it- just like skating. The new dual thumbstick controls feel like your moving your feet rather than inputting a control but this is also without a doubt the hardest skate game on the list. They showed us how the next generation of skating games will be played and they did it amazingly. Since Skate 3s release in 2010, there was no big skate sims getting made or released until session was announced and funded through Kickstarter. Session will forever be known as the game the reignited the skateboard spark in the world of gaming. If you’ve not played it yet, it’s definitely worth having a go as it is still one of the best Skate games to ever come out.

It’s only available on PS3, XBOX360 and XBOX One officially but there are a few PC emulators which are capable of running them with a decent enough gaming computer. They range from competitions to park challenges to photo shoots which mix up the gameplay well and doesn’t make the game too repetitive. One of the best parts of the game is doing the missions and challenges. Skate is one of the games that made skate sims, like the old Thrasher Skate and Destroy game, much more popular compared to the more arcadey Tony Hawk games which makes it feel a lot more weighted when doing tricks which gives a very satisfying gameplay experience. The switch from button to thumbstick controls became super refined in this version of the Skate series and it also added an load of tricks compared to the others. It’s one of the best, if not the best Skate game on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
